Technology Education & Solutions

Understand technology.

SOLVE WITH COMPUTING works across two areas. Through technology education, we help people understand technology and develop practical capability with structured programmes, real projects, and mentorship. Through technology solutions, we apply that same understanding to developing practical digital solutions for real-world needs.

About the Organisation

What is SOLVE WITH COMPUTING?

SOLVE WITH COMPUTING is a technology education and technology solutions organisation based in Mombasa, Kenya. It exists to help people understand technology deeply — and to apply that understanding to real-world problems. The two areas below are distinct: each has its own audience, its own body of work, and its own place to start.

01
Area 1

Technology Education

Structured programmes that help people understand how technology works and develop the practical ability to build with it — through teaching, deliberate practice, real projects, and mentorship.

Who it serves

Prospective learners at any starting point — from building digital confidence with Digital Literacy to developing professional capability with Full-Stack Software Engineering, taught in Mombasa.

02
Area 2

Technology Solutions

Designing and developing practical digital solutions for real-world needs — software and web applications, SaaS products, AI-powered features, and e-learning platforms.

Who it serves

Organisations, founders, and institutions that need software or digital platforms built around a real, practical need.

One shared philosophy

Understand First.
Build Next.

Both areas follow the same principle. Understanding comes before implementation — in what we teach and in what we build.

We are building an institution where technology is not treated merely as a collection of tools to operate, but as a discipline to understand, practise, and apply responsibly.

Technology Is Changing

The tools are changing.
Understanding still matters.

Artificial intelligence is changing how software is built, information is analysed, and digital products are created. As these tools become more capable, the value of people who can understand technology, reason through problems, and make sound decisions becomes even more important.

The SOLVE WITH COMPUTING Perspective

We are preparing people to work with technology — not simply consume it.

AI can accelerate many parts of technical work. But tools do not remove the need to understand problems, evaluate solutions, make decisions, and take responsibility for what gets built.

That is why SOLVE WITH COMPUTING places deep understanding at the centre of both areas of our work. In our teaching, learners develop the knowledge and judgment required to use modern technology effectively — including AI. In our solutions work, the same judgment governs what we build and why.

Our principle

Powerful tools create greater possibilities when people have the understanding to direct them well.

In our teaching

Learners meet the idea before the tool: what it does, why it exists, and when it applies — then practise, build, and debug until the understanding holds without step-by-step instructions.

In our solutions work

We define the problem and its constraints first, then choose technology and build — checking that what we deliver actually answers the need it was meant to address.

What this means for our work

We develop capability that remains valuable as technology evolves.

01

Understand the foundations

Strong technical foundations allow people to understand what tools are doing rather than simply accepting their outputs.

02

Ask better questions

Technology becomes more useful when people can define problems clearly, reason through possibilities, and communicate precise requirements.

03

Evaluate what technology produces

Generated code, data, and other outputs still require human judgment, testing, verification, and context.

04

Build with purpose

The goal is not simply to use powerful tools, but to apply them to meaningful problems and create systems that people can rely on.

From Knowledge to Capability

Information is everywhere.
Capability is developed through practice.

Learners today have unprecedented access to knowledge. The challenge is no longer simply finding information — it is developing the understanding, practical experience, feedback, and confidence needed to apply that knowledge effectively.

Different paths. Shared purpose.

Strong technology education can take many forms.

SOLVE WITH COMPUTING is designed to complement — not replace — the valuable learning that already happens through formal education and independent study.

Academic Foundations

Universities provide valuable conceptual foundations, theoretical knowledge, analytical discipline, and broader academic development. They remain an important part of the technology education ecosystem.

Build the knowledge base

Self-Directed Learning

Documentation, tutorials, open-source projects, and online courses give motivated learners enormous freedom to explore, research, and continue learning independently.

Explore and keep learning

Structured Practical Learning

SOLVE WITH COMPUTING brings structure, deliberate practice, project work, code feedback, and mentorship together to help learners turn knowledge into practical technical capability.

Turn knowledge into capability
Our role

We create the environment where knowledge becomes something learners can use.

Our programmes are designed around a simple idea: learners develop stronger capability when they have a clear path, opportunities to practise, meaningful projects, and people who can guide them when they encounter difficult problems.

StructurePracticeCapability

Structured progression

A coherent sequence that takes learners from foundational concepts toward increasingly complex technical work.

Mentorship & feedback

Direct guidance, code reviews, and feedback that help learners identify gaps and improve their thinking.

Practical application

Concepts are reinforced through exercises, problem-solving, and projects that require learners to apply what they know.

Current technology

Learning materials evolve alongside the tools, practices, and technologies used in modern software development.

Learning community

Cohort interaction creates accountability, collaboration, discussion, and opportunities to learn from others.

Different learning paths can work together to develop capable technology professionals.
Our Learning Methodology

Understand First. Build Next.

Our methodology is built around a simple principle: meaningful technical capability comes from understanding, practice, and application. Learners are not simply taken through a sequence of lessons; they progressively develop the ability to think, build, troubleshoot, and learn for themselves.

Illustration showing the SOLVE WITH COMPUTING learning methodology
01

Understand the concept

We begin with the underlying idea. Learners understand what a technology does, why it exists, and how it fits into the systems around it before being asked to implement it.

02

Understand its purpose

Concepts are connected to real problems and practical situations. Learners develop the ability to recognise when a technology is useful, when it is not, and why a particular approach makes sense.

03

Practise deliberately

Learners apply each concept through focused exercises and guided problem-solving. Practice reinforces understanding and develops the reasoning required to work without step-by-step instructions.

04

Build real projects

Understanding is taken into increasingly realistic projects. Learners make decisions, work through trade-offs, integrate multiple concepts, and experience the complexity of building actual software.

05

Debug and reason

Problems are treated as part of the learning process. Learners learn to investigate unexpected behaviour, identify causes, evaluate possible solutions, and fix problems systematically.

06

Develop independence

The ultimate goal is capability beyond the classroom. Learners develop the confidence and reasoning skills to continue learning, solve unfamiliar problems, and build independently while knowing when to seek guidance.

The Outcome

The goal is not simply to complete a programme or learn a collection of technologies. It is to develop people who can understand unfamiliar problems, make informed technical decisions, build useful solutions, and continue learning as technology changes.

Technology Education

Opening the door to computing.
Building toward a technology academy.

Our technology education work begins with two complementary flagship programmes: Digital Literacy for building essential digital confidence, and Full-Stack Software Engineering for developing advanced technical capability. The longer-term vision is a broader technology education institution serving learners across multiple disciplines, alongside the technology solutions SOLVE WITH COMPUTING develops.

Starting Point

Build digital confidence and technical capability

Our two flagship programmes address complementary needs: Digital Literacy helps learners become confident technology users, while Full-Stack Software Engineering develops the deeper technical capability needed to build technology.

Next Step

Expand into complementary disciplines

As the institution grows, additional programmes can extend the same educational philosophy into data, mobile development, design, cybersecurity, and other areas of computing.

Long-Term Direction

Grow into a broader technology organisation

The ambition is to keep building rigorous, practical education while SOLVE WITH COMPUTING develops its technology solutions work, preparing people for an increasingly technology-driven world.

The outcome we work toward

From learner to independent technology practitioner.

We are building technology education for people at different points in their journey — from becoming confident digital users to becoming capable technology builders who can approach unfamiliar problems methodically and continue learning as technology changes.

Technology Solutions

Turning ideas and real-world problems
into technology.

Alongside our education programmes, SOLVE WITH COMPUTING applies computing to real-world problems and develops practical digital solutions. Our focus includes software applications, digital platforms, and the tools organisations and communities rely on.

Who this is for

Businesses, organisations, founders, and institutions that have a practical problem worth solving with software — and that want the problem understood before it is built.

01

Software & Web Applications

We build software and web applications around specific, practical needs — from internal tools to customer-facing products.

02

SaaS Products

We develop software-as-a-service products that address repeatable problems and can be maintained and extended over time.

03

AI-Powered Solutions

We apply artificial intelligence where it meaningfully improves a workflow, a decision, or a piece of work — not as decoration.

04

E-Learning Platforms

We design and build digital learning platforms and content systems, including the platform that supports our own programmes.

Our solutions work applies the same discipline as our teaching: understand the problem clearly, then build something that works.

Local Roots. Regional Ambition.

Building technology capability
where it can create lasting value.

SOLVE WITH COMPUTING is starting in Mombasa with a simple conviction: people should not only consume technology — they should have the knowledge and practical ability to understand, build, improve, and secure it.

Illustration representing technology education and digital opportunity in Africa

Starting in Mombasa

Building locally before expanding regionally

The opportunity is not simply to train people to use technology. It is to develop people who can create with it.

Businesses, institutions, and communities increasingly depend on digital systems. That creates a growing need for people who can reason about technology, translate problems into technical solutions, and continue learning as the technology changes.

Our mission is to build that understanding and that ability locally: developing people who can create with technology, and applying the same discipline to practical digital solutions that organisations and communities can use.

Build local capability

Develop people who can understand and create technology, not only operate it.

Strengthen the talent pipeline

Give motivated learners a structured path from foundational knowledge to practical capability.

Where capability can be applied

From learning technology to solving problems with it

The disciplines we develop are not ends in themselves. They provide tools people can use to address practical challenges across organisations, industries, and communities.

Digital Systems & Software

Preparing people to design, build, and maintain software that responds to real organisational and community needs.

Data & Decision-Making

Developing the analytical capability needed to turn data into useful information for businesses, institutions, and communities.

Secure Digital Infrastructure

Building awareness of security, privacy, and responsible technology as more services and organisations become digitally connected.

Local Innovation

Equipping local builders to move from identifying problems to designing and developing technology-based solutions.

Our ambition is to establish a strong local foundation in Mombasa, develop a repeatable model for technology education, and grow that capability as the institution expands.

Leadership & Execution

A founder grounded in technology education.

SOLVE WITH COMPUTING is being built from direct experience teaching, mentoring, developing curriculum, and helping learners turn technical concepts into practical skills.

Yahya Mohamed Abdulle, founder and technology educator at SOLVE WITH COMPUTING

Yahya Mohamed Abdulle

Founder & Technology Educator

I'm Yahya Mohamed Abdulle, a technology educator, mentor, curriculum developer, and the founder of SOLVE WITH COMPUTING.

My work has centred on helping people understand software development rather than simply follow instructions. That experience shaped the educational model behind SOLVE WITH COMPUTING: structured learning, deliberate practice, practical projects, and close mentorship.

I have seen the difference that structured, instructor-led learning can make. Learners benefit not only from access to technical content, but from someone who can explain difficult concepts, challenge their reasoning, review their work, and help them work through problems when the path is unclear.

That experience is the foundation on which I am building SOLVE WITH COMPUTING — starting with Digital Literacy and Full-Stack Software Engineering, and growing toward a broader organisation working across technology education and technology solutions.
